Chief Steve Mormino

Steven Mormino is a 28 year veteran of the South Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Department, rising through the ranks and including recently serving as the Chief of Department. He is a 22 ½ year veteran of the FDNY and recently retired as a Lieutenant from Engine Company 225 in East New York Brooklyn. He served as a training instructor assigned to the FDNY Fire Academy presenting computer based drills to field units on building construction and operational safety. He holds an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University and is an advisor/trainer to the National Firefighter Near Miss Reporting System.

CJ Haberkorn is a 15-year veteran and a Captain on the Denver Fire Department in charge of the Hazardous Materials Team. CJ is a program Trainer for the Near-Miss Program and also serves as a Master Instructor for the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Captain Michael Long is a 26 year Fire Service veteran with the Camp Taylor Fire Protection District in Louisville, KY.He is the 2nd. Platoon shift leader for his department and presently serves as the Medical Officer and Assistant Training Officer.  Captain Long is responsible for apparatus maintenance, hose records and testing, fire prevention inspector and facility pre-planning, and of course all emergency and non-emergency responses.  He has a wife of 23 years and three boys.

    could you please explain me the meaning of “close call”, does it mean that an firefighter die in an incident?
