Chief Goldfeder – a firefighter since 1973 and a chief since 1982, serves as a Deputy Fire Chief of the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department in Southwest Ohio. LSFD is an ISO Class 2, full service ALS department providing a full range of traditional and non-traditional emergency and community services.
Chief Goldfeder has served on several NFPA and IAFC Committees, is the Chairman of the IAFC Safety, Health and Survival Section, serves on the National Firefighter Near-Miss Reporting Task Force Board (IAFC) and has been an instructor at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (F.D.I.C.) for the past 25 years as well as a member of the FDIC Advisory Board for the past 15 years.
Captain Ray Gayk – is a company officer with the Ontario (Calif.) Fire Department (OFD). Gayk is a 16-year veteran of the fire service who has been actively involved with the OFD’s development of engineer and captain mentor programs. Gayk has also been a training officer and currently works on Truck 131 in downtown Ontario.
We will be discussing formal leadership, informal leadership, distancing yourselves from your subordinates (or not), making the transition post-promotion, and other related topics.
