In days past, fire department news, whether internal or external, was often publicized using paper and a thumbtack or tape.  If it was really important stuff, the telephone was put into play.  Remember telephone trees?

Today, we ask: Does your department utilize the internet and social media as a communication tools?  Does it have a presence on twitter, or perhaps a Facebook page?  How about a fire department web page?  How well is that used?

Some describe these differences as old school vs. new school.  How we use technology has indeed become a game-changer in the fire service.
